This year saw us entering the certificate phase (YEAR 2) of active schools.
Again, the program was run by our active school’s transition year students who were passionate and enthusiastic in making sure that the events were as good and if not better than last year.
This year our three events were
· Dodgeball
· Waccy Walkway challenge
· Tug of war- Parish Rule)
All three events ran well, and from student feedback, was really enjoyed with students looking forward to what we will do next year. With the junior cycle classes pithed against each other and senior classes picked into teams, there was huge competition and added to the program’s enjoyment.
Another area in which the Active Schools Group can take pride in, is the school receiving funding for new outdoor gym equipment which was a recommendation for our action plan to management which was to allow more access to gym equipment during breaks.
Next year sees us entering our flag year which will be a huge achievement considering there is only 12 secondary schools in the country to have this.
