Community is very important at St. Joseph’s so we have an Ally Committee in order to foster a welcoming environment for all people, regardless of race, gender, sexuality or religion. The Ally Committee help out with various tasks about the school, from karaoke during Smile Week to fundraisers for various LGBTQ+ supports such as BeLonG To, and different workshops and experiences designed to help everyone feel accepted and at home here in the school.
Our staff and student teams are working together to achieve the LGBTQ+ Quality Mark for our school. This quality mark is based on the four key areas of wellbeing promotion and achieving goals in each of these areas: culture and environment, curriculum (teaching and learning), relationships and partnerships as well as policy and planning. The Ally committee is at the centre of our work towards the Quality Mark as they are here in our school to make this school experience one that every student that comes through these doors can enjoy.
