Boys Gaelic Football

Our Senior Boys Football Team managed by Mr Rouse and Mr O’Connell bowed out of the Senior Colleges A championship at the group stages with narrow losses to both Athlone Community College and St. Pat’s Navan. Expectations are high for next year as the majority of this young team are still with us.

Our U16 Boys managed by Mr Kevlihan, Mr Cole and Mr Fannin competed in the Leinster B Football Championship. They emerged from their group after defeating Athlone CC but unfortunately their campaign ended in the Leinster quarter final where eventual finalists St Mary’s Drogheda defeated them.

Our talented 2^nd Year Boys cruised through their group beating Dunshaughlin CC, Dunboyne CS and Athlone CC in their group. They defeated St. Joseph’s Drogheda in the semi-final but suffered a cruel blow losing the North Leinster Final narrowly to eventual Leinster champions Ardee CS. This was difficult to take as the team under performed on the day but such is sport. Thank you to both Mr Giles and Mr Ryan.

Our First Year Boys won the First Year Westmeath Schools in early October 2021. We then competed in the Brother Hubert Cup, playing St. Joseph’s Drogheda, Scoil Dara Kilcock, Colaiste Isogain Portarlington which ended in defeat in the Shield final. Both Mr Fox and Mr Cully put in a huge effort and the players got plenty of exposure to football in their first year at second level.
